Coronation Street’s Alina star Ruxandra Porojnicu opens up on real reason she’s been single for past few years

Coronation Street’s Ruxandra Porojnicu has candidly shared her journey in the quest for ‘The One’.

The actress revealed that despite being single for three years, she remains a “hopeless romantic”, yearning for a real-life love story that contrasts with her character Alina Pop’s rocky romance with Tyrone Dobbs (played by Alan Halsall).

Speaking to The Sun on Sunday, the ITV star opened up: “I believe in fairytales, I think that’s why I’m still single. Men do slide into my DMs. But I’m more of a romantic person and would love to meet someone in real life when out and about or in a coffee shop.

“I’ve been single for the last few years. I’m a hopeless romantic and hope to find true love one day.”

Meanwhile, Coronation Street enthusiasts have been spinning theories about who truly fathered Alina Pop’s baby boy, Dorin.

In storyline turns that left viewers glued to their screens, Dorin made his entrance last week alongside his mother Alina, who made a surprise return to the soap after a three-year absence.

The character’s reemergence was jaw-dropping for Tyrone Dobbs as he grappled with the revelation of being an unknowing father.

Alina had no intentions of lingering in Weatherfield following her brief return as a trial witness, aiming to keep her child with Tyrone under wraps.

Yet, her scheme didn’t hold, and once lured back to the cobbles, she was compelled to admit that Tyrone was indeed Dorin’s father, reports OK!.

Fans are buzzing with theories that Adam Barlow might be the father of Alina’s child, recalling their near-romance from the past.

One fan is convinced, saying: “It’s definitely Adam’s son,” a sentiment echoed by other viewers.

Ruxandra has opened up about her character Alina’s return to the cobbles, hinting at whether it’s for a fleeting visit or a more permanent stay. “I think it would be nice, I would love for her to stick around. I don’t think she’d have chosen to come back this early because her child is so young,” as reported by the Mirror.

Alina’s hesitancy to reintroduce complex relationships into her young child’s life was also discussed. “She didn’t want to take him back and bring new people into his life like his father, it’s complicated. He’s got sisters too. Being back is too much, she needed time away to heal. She did some healing for sure in those years away but she needs more time to be away from the street.”

Discussing Alina’s bond with her child, Ruxandra reflected: “She finally has someone because she was kind of alone and back home, she has a family but having her child, a little family, makes things different. She’s definitely grown up now she has a child.”
