Coronation Street’s Bethany receives another unexpected blow as her hospital trauma escalates
It becomes clear that Bethany Platt’s (Lucy Fallon) botched surgery ordeal is far from over in Coronation Street next week.
The aspiring journalist was left needing a permanent stoma bag after undergoing a liposuction procedure at a Turkish cosmetic surgery clinic while on a press trip in last week’s episodes.
She was also left fighting for her life when a serious infection took over her already fragile body.
Her family have also ben informed that Bethany did not declare the procedure to her travel insurer, and therefore could have to fit her subsequent medical bill herself.
But there’s more trauma ahead next week, when her family learn there’s little chance of pursuing a legal case against the clinic.
In forthcoming scenes, Bethany’s mum Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) – who jetted out to Turkey upon learning of her daughter’s botched op – is stunned when the CEO of the cosmetic surgery company says they’d like to pay for her hotel.
Disgusted, Sarah demands that they should be paying the medical bills instead of her accomodation bills.
They then present her with a consent form that Bethany signed before going under the knife, seemingly absolving them of responsibility.
Back in Weatherfield, David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) tells his gran Audrey Roberts (Sue Nicholls) how the cosmetic surgery company is refusing to pay and she suggests bad-mouthing the company on social media – but little does she realise her plan could have far-reaching consequences.
Meanwhile, Gail (Helen Worth) suggests raising the cash by selling the Platt family home – but when David points out that would leave them homeless, will she think differently about the idea?
