Coronation Street’s Cait Fitton shares love for co-star after murder story
Coronation Street star Cait Fitton has credited a legend of the ITV soap with guiding her through a difficult storyline.
Cait’s character Lauren Bolton was at the centre of the drama in Corrie last year when she went missing and was presumed murdered.
However, she later returned to the cobbles, pregnant with abuser Joel Deering’s baby.
After he drugged her, leading to the premature birth of son Frankie, Lauren took the law into her own hands and murdered Joel.
She was recently found not guilty of his murder, after the jury deemed her actions to have been in self defence.
Now, actress Cait has revealed the co-star she learnt the most from during the difficult storyline was none other than Roy Cropper actor David Neilson himself.
‘I learned the most from David Neilson, who plays Roy,’ she told OK! Magazine. ‘He’s such a wise person. He just makes you laugh on set.
She went on to gush about co-star Paddy Bever, who plays Lauren’s love interest Max Turner.
‘It’s the same with Paddy, we have an amazing bond off-screen. This place is full of people with good advice!’
Dealing with such a tough storyline came with a lot of pressure for Cait, and she revealed that she used to care a lot about what viewers thought of her.
‘I was keen to know what viewers thought about me. I was looking for their approval and, half the time, I didn’t get it.
Cait’s feisty character Lauren has won a place in fans’ hearts, with many comparing her to soap icon Becky Granger, played by Katherine Kelly.
‘I always wanted to play a character like hers and Katherine is a phenomenal actress,’ Cait enthused.
‘I used to look up to her. It’s the best compliment ever.’
