Coronation Street’s Carla left in grave danger as soap confirms major Rob theory
Coronation Street has teased that Carla Connor's life could be in danger as her brother Rob - who is serving time in prison for murder - plots his violent escape
Coronation Street has confirmed that Rob Donovan will attempt to break out of jail, endangering the life of his sister Carla Connor as he takes her hostage.
The ITV soap revealed ahead of Monday’s episode that detective Lisa Swain will discover that Rob is having an affair with prison guard Mandy, with the the illicit couple plotting his escape while he waits to donate his kidney at the hospital.
In scenes airing tonight, Lisa realises that Rob is planning his escape with Mandy after promising his kidney to Carla. However, she convinces him to go ahead with the operation as she tries to get his conviction overturned.
In a brand new trailer for next weeks, fans see that Rob is willing to go to any length to escape from prison – and will be violent to get what he wants. ITV teased: “With both Carla and Rob recovering from the kidney donation operation the stakes are high as Rob attacks a male security guard and steals his uniform, before taking Carla with him as he flees the hospital.

“Lisa is hot on their heels, but has she underestimated just how far Rob will go? Is he prepared to kill again or will he pay the ultimate price for his audacious plan?”
At the weekend, rumours of a brutal shooting hit the soap, with an insider telling The Sun that the shooting will occur after Rob takes Carla hostage. They teased: “No one is safe from the peril and havoc Rob is set to unleash.”
Last week, Coronation Street confirmed the sad departure of icon Dev Alahan, played by actor Jimmi Harkishin for over two decades. In a new storyline, Dev will pack his bags and head to India after finding out that his aunt Gita had a fall.
He will leave behind his partner Bernie – played by Jane Hazlegrove – and his children Aadi and Asha. When he breaks the news to Bernie, she says that she wants to go with him, while Aadi takes charge of the kebab shop and the corner shop.
Corrie fans needn’t worry however – a Coronation Street spokesperson has confirmed Dev will return to our screens in the spring.
