CORONATION Street’s Charlotte Jordan has revealed the real reason she quit the soap and has let slip a huge spoiler about her exit.

Charlotte, 29, who has played Daisy Midgeley for the last four years, is one of three big names leaving the soap in the coming months.

However, The Sun exclusively revealed that unlike Corrie legend Sue Cleaver and the street’s loveable policeman Colson Smith, her exit won’t exactly go down in soap history.

Charlotte filmed her final scenes earlier this month which will see her character Daisy make an exit later this spring in the back of a cab.

A source said “No-one ever wants to leave in the back of a cab but that’s exactly what’s happening with Charlotte.

“They’re not killing her off but she leaves after burning all her bridges with step-mum Jenny Bradley.”

Now just before her exit, Charlotte has given an interview about leaving the cobbled street behind her.

How are you feeling about leaving the soap?

“I think it’s very bittersweet for Daisy. Weatherfield has been her home for a while now and, early on, was giving her all the things she wanted – family, community, stability, people to love more than she perhaps loves herself – but it’s also been the source of so much trauma for her.

“I think we’ve watched her slowly try to pick up the pieces since her stalking storyline, but she’s ultimately realised she doesn’t need to stay in a place that’s caused her so much heartbreak.

“And it’s just as well she’s running far away to the other side of the planet, as she’s left a mountain of destruction and angry people in her wake!

“As for me, I’m feeling really grateful for my years on the show and the people I’ve gotten to work with.

“Kate has been so supportive about me wanting to go back out into the audition circuit and very generous with Daisy’s exit story, as she really wanted to do the character justice.

“And I can’t tell you how much fun the other cast members and I had playing out this last hurrah.”

What’s Daisy’s relationship with Jenny like now?

“It’s so fractured now. And it’s so sad, as we’re used to seeing them so in sync.

“I think Daisy’s harbouring some real resentment there, especially after what Jenny said about her miscarriage and her little brother’s death.

“She feels she’s very much been backed into a corner here. I suppose that’s the only way she can justify her final betrayal of Jenny – it’s actually very reminiscent of Jenny’s early relationship with Rita.

“It’s like Daisy is Jenny’s penance for all the grief she used to give poor Rita!”

“Daisy knows exactly what her mother is like. She keeps giving Christina these chances to step up and be there for her (no matter how morally grey the scenario), and every time Christina throws it back in her face.

“She wants to believe Christina can change, but I think she’s more mad at herself for continuing to allow Christina to hurt her – when Daisy knows that’s all she’s ever done.

“But unfortunately for Christina, you reap what you sow, and no one can manipulate and backstab quite like our Daisy!”

Will Daisy always love Daniel?

“Of course she will. I think they’ll both be each other’s “what if” love story.

“I think we’ll all be mourning what could have been. I think she also knows, deep down, that if Daniel were fully aware of what she’s about to do to Jenny, he wouldn’t be willing to let it slide and continue to stand by her side.

“So it’s almost like she’s cutting him loose before she can see how disappointed in her he’ll be.”

What was your last filming day like?

“I’m not a big crier. But let me tell you, I cried on and off for about four hours straight.

“My last scene was with the beautiful Rob Mallard, and we were meant to cry in the scene – but we were both dry as a bone.

“As soon as they yelled our final “cut,” we both burst into tears. Typical.

“The Corrie gang made it so special for me. The canteen made me my favourite lunch – which made me cry.

“The art department drew me a beautiful card – which made me cry.

“I would look over to Channique or Julia or Sal during our last lunch break and see them crying – which made me cry.

“I think I was medically dehydrated by the end of the day.

“It’s a very special building, and I have loved it. And it’s just goodbye for now, not goodbye forever.”
