Coronation Street’s Colson Smith brands co-star a ‘swinger’ after spotting major clue

Coronation Street fans were left gobsmacked when Colson Smith - who plays Craig Tinker - suggested his co-star Jack P. Shepherd was a "swinger" after spotting one obvious clue

Coronation Street favourite Colson Smith suggested his co-star Jack P. Shepherd is a “swinger” after spotting a major clue in his house.

Things turned tense during the latest episode of the actors’ hugely popular podcast On The Sofa – which they also host alongside their co-star Ben Price. On the hour-long show, the trio discussed the significance of pineapples in the UK.

Previously, the trio discussed how the luxury fruit was brought over to the UK in the 1550s from the Caribbean. The prized fruit became a highly sought after rarity and was only available to the wealthiest.

Eventually named the ‘King of Fruit’, the tropical delicacy could cost as much as £6,300 today ($8000). But this week, the ITV stars learnt an alternative meaning behind the delicious fruit.

Taking to TikTok, the Craig Tinker star shared a comment from a fan which said: “Tell them about the pineapples being a symbol for swinging and then you have to dump them. Simple.” The auburn hunk immediately shared the interesting fact with his co-stars while recording the podcast.

He said: “Last week’s conundrum was about the pineapples. Did you know what having lots of pineapples around the house is meant to mean?”

It was at this point that the silver fox stated: “It’s supposed to mean that you change partners, that you swap partners.” Craig couldn’t help but chuckle at the reveal as he clarified: “swingers!”

Jack was quick to shut down the claims, arguing: “No it’s a load of s**t. It’s a sign of wealth, that’s a load of b******s. Don’t listen to it.”

Colson cheekily quipped: “That’s exactly what a swinger would say.” But this isn’t the first time that swingers have been connected to the ITV cobbles.

Back in 2018, one swinger claimed on a kinky sex site that he had a fumble with his partner on the ITV set. The user, who we have chosen to remain anonymous, published a photo of herself flashing the flesh outside of Dev’s shop.

It is understood the couple got down and dirty on set while they were taking a £35-a-head tour of the Manchester soap set. At the time security staff had been warned to look out for other X-rated visitors’ antics.

A Granada source revealed: “They’re on duty to watch for people getting amorous in the nooks and crannies and back alleys of the set.”
