Coronation Street’s creepy Rowan pulls Leanne Battersby under his control as she hits rock bottom after tragedy

Rowan speaks to Leanne in the Bistro in Corrie

Cult leader Rowan (Emryhs Cooper) spots an opportunity to pull Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) further under his spell next week in Coronation Street.

Leanne met Rowan a few weeks ago at a hotel.

He introduced himself as the leader of a self-help group called The Institute and Leanne was immediately charmed by him.

Rowan’s teachings on reality coding have proven of particular interest to Leanne, with Toyah (Georgia Taylor) and Nick Tilsey (Ben Price) concerned that she’s getting carried away in her admiration of Rowan.

Toyah, who is a trained counsellor, has warned Rowan that his teachings are harmful but, despite her sister’s concern, Leanne can’t get enough.

Coming up, Leanne video calls Rowan to tell him about Toyah’s negativity towards The Institute and Rowan urges her to immediately distance herself from her sister.

Meanwhile, as Toyah searches the park for Freddie the dog, she comes across three sleuths digging up a rose bed who reveal they saw Freddie digging at the same place, so they reckon Roy (David Neilson) has buried Lauren’s (Cait Fitton) body there.

After hearing this, Toyah sees red, picks up a shovel and smashes their car window.

As Toyah spirals, she ends up confessing to Nick that when she was 19 years old, she gave birth to a stillborn baby girl, kept it a secret and buried her in the same place in the park where the sleuths were digging.

Toyah then takes a deep breath and admits to Nick that the baby’s father was Phil Simmonds, the man who raped her in the early 2000s.

Towards the end of the week, Leanne tells Nick that she feels betrayed and he should never have kept Toyah’s secret from her.

When Rowan arrives, Leanne immediately perks up.

During their chat, Rowan suggests to Leanne that she should unburden herself of negativity and embark on some uploading.

As Leanne tries to object, Rowan manipulates her and says it’s high time she puts herself first.

Later, Toyah calls in the Bistro to find Nick run off his feet as Leanne is spending time with Rowan.

In their meeting, Leanne talks Rowan through all the bad things that have happened in her life.

Rowan listens intently and subtly isolates her even more by saying he’s by her side every step of the way.

How far is this going to go?
