Coronation Street’s Jack P Shepherd has admitted to having his first wedding planning argument with fiancée Hanni Treweek.

The couple, who announced their engagement last year after seven years together, are currently in the process of planing their big day. But, speaking with fellow Corrie actors Colson Smith and Ben Price on the On The Sofa podcast, Jack revealed that the price of the kids’ wedding attire was causing tension.

He said: “We have actually had the first argument of the wedding. So everything before this, it’s been, ‘We’re agreeing on everything’.”

Jack went on to explain that his original plan was to get matching outfits for his nieces and nephews to be part of a wedding procession. He added: “I didn’t know that, as the bride and groom, you have to pay for all their suits and costumes.”

Colson, who plays Craig Tinker, chimed in: “You have to pay for everything, pal! You pay for mine and Ben’s suits!” Jack explained that while he can hire suits for the groomsmen, he worries the children would “ruin” their outfits on the big day, reports Plymouth Live.

“You can’t really hire the kid’s suits,” he said. “What do kids do at weddings? They f*** up their suits. They do the Peter Kay knee slide, so you have to pay for them. My brother’s got four kids, my sister’s got four kids, plus there’s my two, so there’s 10 children.”

Colson thought the expense to equip the children for his wedding would be “a grand, minimum”, but Jack reckoned it would cost “way more” once outfits and shoes were tallied up.

“I was like ‘I’m not doing it, I can’t do it, I don’t like them that much’,” Jack admitted. However, Hanni reportedly insisted “they’re going to have to” fork out for the smart attire.

Not one to be easily swayed, Corrie’s Jack took a firm stand, heading straight to the family WhatsApp group with a clear message: “I ain’t doing it,” informing them they had to pay for their own children.

Fortunately, Jack didn’t face a mutiny as his siblings agreed to cover their costs. He reflected on the situation, sharing: “We had a bit of a do, but we’ve sorted it out. It’s the first disagreement. She was saying we have to, but I said there’s too many of them.”

In a compromise, Jack did agree to pay for the bridesmaids’ frocks along with some cosy pyjamas and slippers, although he joked: “If Elon Musk got this bill, he’d go ‘I can’t pay it’. He’d sort of look at it and go ‘really?'”
