Sparks fly again in Coronation Street next week as Joel Deering (Calum Lill) attempts to make a move on his ex-girlfriend Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown).
Viewers of the ITV will remember that the couple were set up on a date by Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson) after first catching each other’s eyes in the police station.
Who said romance was dead?
The two grew close very quickly, even spending Christmas Day together, and Joel provided a much needed shoulder to cry on in the wake of Ed Bailey’s (Trevor Michael Georges) gambling addiction.
However, after months of viewers suspecting that he was hiding something from his new girlfriend, it was later revealed that he had an estranged wife, Emily (Ellena Vincent) and a daughter, Maeve.
Unable to process Joel’s betrayal, Dee-Dee asserted that their relationship was over and even when Emily revealed they were long separated, she couldn’t comprehend why he would feel the need to lie.
Earlier this week we saw him comfort her as she broke down in court when Corrie icon Roy Cropper (David Neilson) was refused bail and in tonight’s (19th April) episode, he will become concerned after finding a string of threatening messages on her laptop.
As we look into next week, it seems that a reunion could be on the horizon…
After spotting Michael Bailey (Ryan Russell) in the café, Joel approaches him and promises him that he regrets his lies and won’t ever keep secrets from Dee-Dee ever again in the hope they can get back on track.
In the solicitors, he thanks her for joining him to meet his daughter and tries to kiss her – but how will she respond?
Later, she learns from Aadi Alahan (Adam Hussain) that Joel’s agreed to represent a woman in court who was working with Amy Barlow (Elle Mulvaney) on behalf of a women’s charity.
Will Dee-Dee see him as a changed man?
