Coronation Street’s DS Lisa Swain vows never to let Carla Connor go and we swear it’s love

Carla talks to DS Swain in the police station in Coronation Street

Lesbians everywhere are going absolutely feral over the idea of #Swarla in Coronation Street, and recent scenes did absolutely nothing to dispel the rumours that DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) is head over heels in love with Carla Connor (Alison King).

This week, viewers have seen DS Swain open up to Carla amid troubles at home with her teenage daughter, following the death of her partner two years ago.

In tonight’s (May 31) episode, Swain paid a visit to Roy Cropper (David Neilson) to inform him that all the charges against him had been dropped – though that wasn’t the only thing on her mind.

Having walked in on a tense interaction between the cafe owner and Carla, DS Swain questioned Roy on whether he’d been able to speak to anyone about his traumatic ordeal at the hands of Griff Reynolds, naming Carla as an example.

When Roy grew suspicious of her line of questioning, she was quick to point out that Carla had had a rough time of it too, and anything she’d done had been to get Roy out of prison.

Viewers will know that Carla went along with Bobby Crawford’s (Jack Carroll) false statement in the hopes that it would help Roy walk free, though it left Roy furious and brought a bitter end to their friendship – something that DS Swain wanted to see repaired.

‘If I had a friend like that, I wouldn’t be chasing her away…’ Swain warned him.

As a result of Swain sticking up for her, Carla and Roy were able to repair their friendship, and the factory owner wasted no time in heading to the police station to thank Swain for her intervention.

In another joyous turn of events, Swain then revealed that they were dropping the case against Bobby, meaning that Carla was free to move on with her life.

As a means of thanking her, Carla offered to give Swain’s tearaway teen daughter some work experience at the factory, which Lisa accepted, but not before some flirty banter.

With the pair going out of their way to do each other favours, could this be the start of a blossoming romance?

We really hope so.
