Coronation Street’s Evelyn Plummer reels as Cassie drops big bombshell about who Tyrone’s dad is
An article about Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) reminded Cassie Plummer (Claire Sweeney) of her dark and traumatic past in Coronation Street.
Lauren’s disappearance has been topic of conversation ever since the police started an investigation. Theories and rumours are circulating around Weatherfield, with plenty of residents expressing their thoughts on who is possibly involved.
Tonight (March 22), focus was on an article about Lauren and her apparent history as a sex worker. So far, we don’t know how truthful the article is, because Lauren’s friends only knew for certain that she was earning money from a site called O-Vidz, which is similar to OnlyFans.
Despite the potential inaccuracies, reading that a young girl was potentially subjected to having sex for money triggered Cassie.
Shortly after Cassie arrived in Weatherfield, she told son Tyrone (Alan Halsall) that she was a sex worker when she was a teenager.
It was Tyrone who picked up on Cassie’s change in behaviour and later, he decided to tell Evelyn (Maureen Lipman) about her daughter’s past.
Evelyn was completely taken aback and horrified at the news. In the shop, she was angry at herself and told her daughter that she wished she did something different, but Cassie reminded her mum that if she said anything, younger Cassie probably wouldn’t have listened anyway.
Cassie opened up about her history and said her dad discovered what she was doing after finding condoms and money in her bag. She believed the stress over knowing eventually killed her father, but Evelyn said that wasn’t the case and she definitely wasn’t to blame.
Still pushing for information, Evelyn then wondered if Tyrone’s father was someone Cassie slept with for money. She nodded, and Evelyn’s heart broke.
Returning home, Cassie was emotionally exhausted after digging up the past but before their conversation ended, she asked her mum to keep the truth about Tyrone’s dad a secret, because sometimes people are better off not knowing.
But will Evelyn respect Cassie’s wishes?
