Coronation Street star Jack P. Shepherd confessed “I can’t do it” following an argument with his fiancée Hanni Treweek over their wedding plans.

The actor, who plays David Platt, announced his engagement to his scriptwriter wife-to-be last year after being together for seven years. But now, in the middle of planning their big day, Jack revealed they’ve had their first disagreement.

Speaking on the On The Sofa podcast with fellow Corrie actors Colson Smith and Ben Price, he disclosed that the cost of children’s wedding outfits began to escalate.

“We have actually had the first argument of the wedding,” he said. “So everything before this, it’s been, ‘We’re agreeing on everything’.”

Jack went on to explain that his original plan was to get matching outfits for his nieces and nephews to be part of a wedding procession. He added: “I didn’t know that, as the bride and groom, you have to pay for all their suits and costumes.”

Colson, who plays Craig Tinker in the soap, responded: “You have to pay for everything, pal! You pay for mine and Ben’s suits!”

Jack then clarified that while he can rent suits for the groomsmen, he’s worried the children would “ruin” their outfits on the big day, reports Plymouth Live.

“You can’t really hire the kid’s suits,” he said. “What do kids do at weddings? They f*** up their suits. They do the Peter Kay knee slide, so you have to pay for them. My brother’s got four kids, my sister’s got four kids, plus there’s my two, so there’s 10 children.”

Colson expected it would cost “a grand, minimum” to suit up the kids, but Jack reckoned it would be “way more” after factoring in the outfits and shoes.

“I was like ‘I’m not doing it, I can’t do it, I don’t like them that much’,” Jack admitted. However, Hanni was adamant “they’re going to have to” fork out for the suits and dresses, which led Jack to make a firm decision.

He took to the family WhatsApp group with a determined “I ain’t doing it,” insisting the parents should pay for their own children’s attire.

To Jack’s relief, his siblings were on board with paying for their outfits themselves. Wrapping it up, he said: “We had a bit of a do but we’ve sorted it out. It’s the first disagreement. She was saying we have to, but I said there’s too many of them.”

Jack told Colson and Ben that while he put his foot down with the children’s outfits, he did agree to splash out on the bridesmaids’ dresses, plus pyjamas and slippers – joking even Elon Musk would baulk at the cost.

“If Elon Musk got this bill, he’d go ‘I can’t pay it’,” he quipped. “He’d sort of look at it and go ‘really?'”
