Coronation Street’s Julia Goulding devastated at the ‘loss of two of her mates’
Coronation Street actress Julia Goulding has shared her devastation to see two colleagues leave the show.
Julia, 39, plays Shona Platt in the ITV soap, which has seen several cast members announce their departures in recent months. Two of these have hit Julia particularly hard, and it has left the actress lamenting she is “losing all of my mates”.
Max Turner, played by Paddy Bever, and Rovers Return barmaid Daisy Midgeley, portrayed by Charlotte Jordan, are leaving the soap opera soon. Paddy has portrayed Julia’s on-screen stepson since 2021.
Julia, who herself is from Manchester, said: “I love Paddy so much and I could actually be his mother, it’s ridiculous. He’s got a very bright future ahead of him and I would love to see him come back at some point, but I don’t know where his life is going to take him. Really sad to lose him… And Charlie, don’t even get me started. I’m furious with her for leaving. I’m losing all of my mates.”

When Paddy, who won a National Television Award in 2022, entered the programme, he replaced Harry McDermott, who had played Max for 11 years. However, it was revealed last month the 22-year-old actor would be leaving the cobbles.
The actor, from Stockport, Greater Manchester, said previously: “After much reflection and in an incredibly difficult decision, I have chosen to step away from Max, and Coronation Street, to explore new opportunities. I have been surrounded by such kindness and support every step of the way.”
And Charlotte, 29, is quitting the soap, having played Daisy for four years. Charlotte has been part of a number of hard-hitting storylines, including being stalked and facing a horrific acid attack on her wedding day, for which she won a British Soap Award for Best Dramatic Performance in 2023.
In a previous statement, she said: “My time at Coronation Street is something I’ll always cherish. After a brilliant four years for Daisy, it’s time for me to start a new chapter and explore other opportunities. It’s been a privilege to be part of a wonderful institution with even more wonderful colleagues who have taught me so much.”
Eileen Grimshaw (Sue Cleaver), Craig Tinker (Colson Smith) and Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney) are all also set to leave Corrie in the coming months.
