Mason Radcliffe was stabbed by his brothers in harrowing scenes on Coronation Street as Luca Toolan left the ITV soap, with the character tragically killed off
Luca Toolan has broken his silence following the death of his character on Coronation Street.
Mason Radcliffe was killed off in harrowing scenes, when his brothers stabbed him. In heartbreaking scenes, Mason was chased by his brothers after he told the police about them, before they cornered him and stabbed him.
Whilst it initially seemed like he got away from them, it was later revealed that all that had been in his imagination, and he was bleeding out, with Abi Webster rushing to his aid and the paramedics being called.
Despite him being rushed to hospital, Mason did not survive his injuries and went into cardiac arrest, as the news spread about his death. Luca has now spoken out following his character’s tragic death.
Speaking about how he felt about leaving the soap, he said: “Of course when I first heard there was a mixture of emotions because I was sad that Mason was going to die and that means I would be leaving, but equally I was really excited and honoured to be part of this storyline because it’s an incredibly important issue that needs to be tackled. I feel so privileged to have had this opportunity to start my professional career at Coronation Street and what a great time I’ve had.”
Luca also admitted it was “exhausting” filming the heartbreaking exit scenes. “It was exhausting to film but amazing. I was so focused and a storyline like this is what you crave as an actor. I love the long days and working my butt off and even filming outside in the cold,” he said.
“Every single day I would wake up and be absolutely buzzing to go to work. The full crew were so supportive and created an environment that you could put yourself in that emotional headspace and get on with it. It was an experience filming those scenes.”
Away from the soap, Luca is hoping he can continue acting after leaving the show.
Speaking of what’s to come, he added: “I love acting so much and I really hope I’ll continue doing it. I’ve seriously learned so much from Corrie and I’m so grateful to everyone involved there. As for my future, I’m not sure what it holds but the saying I like to say is: ‘I’m aiming for the stars and if I miss, I’ll hit the moon.'”
