Coronation Street’s Mason ‘didn’t really die’ as shock witness protection twist ‘sealed’

Coronation StreetĀ fans are convinced that Mason Radcliffe (Luca Toolan) isn’t really dead, and they believe they have evidence to back up their theory.

Mason first appeared on the cobbles in 2023 as a school bully who tormented Maria Connor’s (Samia Longchambon) young son, Liam Connor (Charlie Wrenshall). After being sent to a Young Offenders centre, he was released and returned to Weatherfield, determined to change his ways and distance himself from his violent family, including brothers Logan (Harry Lowbridge) and Matty (Seamus McGoff).

Sally Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor) and Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine) took him in, and he secured a job as a chef at Speed Dahl. He also started dating Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin), the daughter of police officer DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers).

However, this week saw a terrifying turn of events when Mason’s brothers tracked him down after he reported them for murdering Betsy’s mother, Becky. Realising he needed to leave Weatherfield for his own safety, Mason decided to accept Stu Carpenter’s (Bill Fellows) job offer in Germany.

Mason was stabbed this week

But disaster struck on Monday night (January 6) when Matty and Logan found Mason and stabbed him with Dylan Wilson’s (Liam McCheyne) zombie knife. Abi Franklin (Sally Carman), whose own son Seb Franklin (Harry Visinoni) tragically died following an attack in 2021, tried desperately to save him, reportsĀ Lancs Live.

Corrie viewers were knocked for six when it was feared Mason had kicked the bucket after a sudden emergency saw him zoomed off to hospital. But, soap buffs are now convinced that Mason might actually be alive and well, speculating about a shocking witness protection scheme. They flocked to social media to share their hunches with one sharp fan pointing out the parallels to a similar storyline in Hollyoaks.

“Maybe Mason has gone into witness protection? The same happened with Sid on Hollyoaks a few years ago. It was announced he died but was still alive, so maybe Mason is in witness protection to help bring his brothers down,” speculated one clued-up viewer.

Other armchair sleuths are on board with the theory, with comments flying in like: “Regarding Mason, no doctor came out to say he had died and Asha left the room as they were working on him.” Another detective added: “This theory would be great.” While a fourth posted: “True! I never thought of that.”
