With only a few weeks left until soap legend Helen Worth says goodbye to her iconic character Gail Platt, the matriarch and her family have come together for one final special Platt family portrait.
As ITV soap fans know, there are few TV families more dysfunctional than Gail’s clan, and as she gets ready to bid them and her home of five decades farewell with Jessie Chadwick, she is blissfully ignorant of the secrets her children are hiding and the ticking time bombs she is leaving behind. With a new trailer also dropping, it looks like Gail is in for a tough exit.
A new ITV promo released on Monday (December 9) reveals that behind the smiles of the stylish family photo, Gail’s plan to marry Jessie on Christmas Day and swap the Coronation Street cobbles for the boulevards of France will be anything but smooth sailing. Lies and betrayal threaten to ruin David and Shona’s marriage.
Struggling to cope with David’s deceit about his visit to her son Clayton Hibbs in prison before he tried to take his own life, Shona has secretly slept with Detective Kit Green.
As David faces pressure from the Radcliffe brothers, Matty and Logan, to return the money he stole from imprisoned gangster Harvey Gaskell, his suspicions about his wife’s infidelity could push him over the edge.
Meanwhile, eldest son Nick refuses to end his illicit affair with Toyah Habeeb, but unknown to them Leanne Battersby is determined to make the lovers pay for their betrayal and has concocted a scheme to frame them both for fraud. Elsewhere, Sarah is still grappling with the fallout from her daughter Bethany’s botched cosmetic surgery.
However, Daniel Osbourne is poised to propose. Her family wonder could things be on the up for them, or whether more heartache on the horizon, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Lastly, Gail is oblivious to the extent of her dear mother Audrey Roberts’ struggle with her daughter’s plans to abandon her and start a new life with Jessie. As the wedding day approaches, Audrey resorts to desperate measures to convince Gail to reconsider.
With only weeks left until the Christmas Day wedding, the question on whether Gail bid farewell to Weatherfield with her sixth husband or envision her future life in France as a single woman remains.
