Coronation Street's Sarah Platt revealed all on an apparent exit from Weatherfield for one character

Coronation Street revealed an apparent offscreen exit from the ITV soap on Monday night, as one character announced another was leaving.

Days on from a brutal attack leading to blackmail, a Weatherfield resident announced the departure of a character while it wasn’t shown on screen. Sarah Platt told her brother David Platt that villain Nathan Curtis was gone for good.

After viewers learned Gary Windass was behind the attack on him last week, Sarah claimed to David the assault was enough to scare him out of town. As David asked her how she could possibly know Nathan had left or was leaving for good, Sarah claimed to just know as there was no reason for him to stick around.

The show has not announced the departure, but Sarah seemed fairly certain the character was gone. Of course what she didn’t initially tell David was the true reason she knew he would possibly be heading off.

After Gary was exposed as the attacker, Sarah offered Nathan £2,000 for him to stay quiet and leave. Nathan’s return had left Sarah’s daughter Bethany Platt in turmoil, and she has grown convinced he’s behind Lauren Bolton’s murder.

Nathan left the show seven years ago after being sent to prison. He was part of a child sex grooming gang, with Bethany being one of his victims. He had physically and sexually abused her, before trying to sell her into sex work abroad.

Sarah wanted Nathan gone after his recent return as did others including Gary and David, leading to Gary’s attack. But Nathan blackmailed Sarah over the incident, leading to Gary paying him off with £10,000 but he was told he needed to leave for good and could not return.

Sarah seems convinced it’s over and that Nathan has left, amid his possible link to the Lauren murder case. But has Nathan really left the show so abruptly, or might Sarah and Gary end up regretting their plan to pay him off if it turns out he hasn’t really gone?
