Coronation Street’s Shona and David divided by killer Clayton

Shona and David talk in the kitchen of the Platt home in Corrie

Shona and David Platt (Julia Goulding and Jack P. Shepherd) are at odds over her son Clayton Hibbs (Callum Harrison) in Coronation Street next week, following the killer’s attempt to take his life in prison.

Earlier this month, David intercepted messages and calls from Clayton to his mother, and has also been hiding the fact he paid him a visit in jail to falsely tell him Shona wanted nothing to do with him.

David was later guilt-ridden when Shona had a call from the police informing her that Clayton had tried to take his own life.

When Shona subsequently discovered Clayton’s first email, David gaslit her and convinced his wife that she may have missed it due to her brain injury.

Shona was further distraught after Clayton regained consciousness and refused to see her.

Next week, Shona remains desperate to visit her son and is annoyed by David’s lack of sympathy.

As fans of the ITV soap will know, Clayton killed David’s first wife Kylie Platt (Paula Lane) in 2016, and Shona and David agreed never to mention him again after he made a brief return to the show in 2020.

However, in forthcoming scenes, Shona tells David she is intent on seeing her son with or without his permission.

While fans will have to wait and see how David reacts, when Shona does head to the hospital, she spots Clayton handcuffed to a prison guard and approaches his bed.

Will Clayton reveal all about David’s visit to see him?

Actress Julia Goulding previously teased that the truth could tear Shona and David apart if she does find out.

She said: ‘When Shona finds out her husband has been gaslighting her and had a part in Clayton trying to take his own life, I dread to think what she’s going to do. But I don’t think she’ll take it lying down!

‘There’s going to be a lot of anger and pain, a possibility they could destroy each other.’
