Coronation Street’s Simon hits rock bottom as he’s forced to sleep rough after shameful secret is finally exposed
Simon has turned to drink in recent weeks, with disastrous results.
CORONATION Street’s Simon Barlow hit rock bottom tonight as he was forced to sleep rough after his shameful secret was finally exposed.
Simon – played by Alex Bain – has been spiralling in recent weeks following the departure of his dad Peter, and has been drinking too much.
Last week, Simon got behind the wheel despite being under the influence after a party so he could do Nick Tilsley a favour by taking his son Sam to a chess competition.
But he soon lost control of the car and crashed into a road sign, before later telling his horrified mum Leanne that he was over the limit when she pushed for them to tell the police.
Leanne agreed to keep quiet, but in tonight’s episode, Sam collapsed at school and was taken to hospital.
A worried Nick and Leanne arrived and learned Sam had been taken for a scan as they feared there could be a bleed on the brain.
Leanne ended up confessing what Simon had done to Nick, who was rightly furious.
Thankfully, Sam’s scans came back clear and the doctor said the youngster had concussion.
He was allowed home, but once back at the flat Nick and Leanne clashed over the fact she had covered for Simon and put his son at risk.
When Simon returned home, he told Leanne and Nick that he had been to the police station and handed himself in.
But Nick was still not happy with him and said that he had to leave.
Leanne didn’t like what she heard but Nick told her that if Simon didn’t go, he would leave with Sam.
In the end, Simon said he would leave and had “plenty of places to go”, but in the final moments of the episode, he was seen lying on the floor in an alleyway sheltering from the rain.
