Coronation Street’s Steve McDonald faces a big dilemma after affair – and it’s not whether or not to take back Tracy!

Steve on the doorstep of Number 1 in Coronation Street

Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) was a man with a problem in Monday’s (March 4) episode of Coronation Street – what team should he support now after leaving Weathy County?

Last week, Steve discovered Tracy (Kate Ford) had been having an affair with his footballing hero Tommy Orpington (Matt Milburn).

As Steve mentioned in the aftermath, he absolutely adored Tommy and even had his face on a tea towel.

Sadly, he’s not going to be using that anytime soon.

In tonight’s episode of the ITV soap, Steve spent the morning sorting out all of his Weathy County merch – and there was a lot.

Away from the humorous side to Steve’s comments, it’s important to note how devastated he truly felt at the prospect of no longer supporting his beloved football team.

At the Barlow household, he explained in a chat with Ken (William Roache) and Daniel (Rob Mallard) that his family would move around a lot, so him and his brother Andy never really found a team to support.

He then said when they moved to Coronation Street, they found a ‘proper home’ and would sing ‘County till I die!’ in the stands.

Now, as a result of Tommy Orpington’s actions, Steve feels he needs to find another football team to fall in love with.

We know.

In the pub, as Steve and Abi (Sally Carman) discussed the prospect of Manchester City or United being his new home, Tim (Joe Duttine) seemed somewhat reluctant to follow his best mate on a new journey.

Later, when Tommy entered, Steve said that he and Tim were no longer Weathy County fans.

Tommy was shocked and pointed out that after supporting the group for so long, they can’t just walk away.

Steve seems set in his ways, but will anything change if Tommy accepts his new job opportunity in Spain?

Can he really leave Weathy County after being a part of the club for well over 30 years?
