Coronation Street’s Sue Devaney marries long-term partner in stunning red dress and tiara
Coronation Street star Sue Devaney - who plays Debbie Webster on the ITV soap opera - got married to retired journalist Jim O'Farrell in a wedding ceremony earlier this year
Coronation Street cast member Sue Devaney has tied the knot in a quiet ceremony with her partner Jim O’Farrell.
The actor, 57 – who plays Debbie Webster on the ITV soap opera – is understood to have married retired journalist Jim earlier this year. The couple are said to have enjoyed a “very low key” ceremony attended by both family and friends.
Photos believed to be from the nuptials show the bride in a red gown that featured black detailing. Sue accessorised with a silver tiara. Jim appeared to wear a patterned navy suit for the occasion. He’s believed to have worn a red tie for the ceremony but then a darker one for the reception.
Sue shared the photos on Facebook a few months ago, prompting well wishes on the platform in March and April over the posts. One photo, which showed the newlyweds and some guests, is now her profile picture on Instagram.

She was met with congratulatory messages over the posts earlier this year. One person responded: “Congratulations to you both.” Someone else wrote: “You both look so happy.” Whilst a third said: “Gorgeous couple. Congratulations.”
The actor confirmed to her followers that she had tied the knot in the caption of a post shared on Instagram in April. It accompanied a photo of herself and Jim outside a hotel in West Yorkshire, which they had visited for his birthday.
Sue teased in the caption that it was related to a wedding gift. Naming several people, she wrote: “Thank you so much for our amazing wedding gift.” She concluded: “We had a fabby time at Holdsworth House for Jim’s big birthday.”
It’s been reported by the Sun this week that the couple got married in North Yorkshire. Discussing it, a source told the outlet: “It was a beautiful day. Sue looked a million dollars. It was a lovely ceremony and very low key considering Sue’s fame.” They added: “Everyone is really happy for them.”

Sue first appeared on Corrie years ago, with her initially on it from 1984 to 1985. Her character Debbie was introduced as the sister of Kevin Webster (played by Michael Le Vell), who’s since become a long-running character.
After having been referenced on the show over the years since her departure, Debbie was brought back as part of a storyline in 2019. Sue has remained a cast member on the soap opera since then, marking her longest stint in the role.
The actor’s appeared in other high-profile projects over the course of her career too, including having played Liz Harker in Casualty. She also worked alongside the late Victoria Wood and Julie Walters in Dinnerladies.
