Corrie fans all say same thing after spotting blunder as Paul’s death approaches
Coronation Street viewers are convinced they have worked out when Paul Foreman will die after he was diagnosed with MND in heartbreaking scenes
Coronation Street’s Paul Foreman is on the brink of a heart-wrenching exit from the popular soap with his departure date still in suspense due to his Motor Neurone Disease (MND) storyline.
Following an accident which spiralled into a decline in health, medical professionals intervened and came to the tragic conclusion that he was living with MND – a truth that left him shattered.
As his condition deteriorated, Paul had to cope with significant changes including the shift from solid foods to purees resulting from his worsening speech, adding another layer of sorrow as he endeavoured to summon strength for his family.
Further distress ensued when Paul, accompanied by Billy Mayhew, was told at a meeting with an MND nurse that he won’t manage to utilise his stair lift due to the weakening of his neck muscles.
Having been diagnosed with MND, Paul’s ultimate goal has been to cherish every moment with his loved ones. However, a sobering prognostication by a nurse was made in November 2023: Paul only had six months left, reports the Express.
Despite Paul’s rapid decline, eagle-eyed Corrie buffs highlighted the paradox – seven months have passed since Paul’s grim six-month prognosis.
An observant fan took to X, previously known as Twitter, sharing an image from the official Coronation Street YouTube channel stating “Paul’s told he’s got six months left to live”. With a hint of irony, @felixw1 captioned the picture: 6 months left to live – 7 months ago.
“Why is it always 6 months that these characters have left to live on every single soap storyline of terminal illness lmao”, commented @PlanetRhi. However, some Corrie audiences defended the show, arguing that Paul’s survival time-frame depicted in the soap was practical.
@AwesomegamingY voiced: “If you watch it it’s actually 6-12 months don’t always believe what the title tells you.” Similarly, @footymadfan22 shared: “If you actually watched it its 6 months to a year.”
The exact date of Peter Ash’s last episode as Paul remains unannounced, but viewers and fellow cast members are preparing for emotional adieux.
Paul has crossed several prominent waypoints in life. He commemorated what may have been his last Christmas with family this past festive season, fostering expectations that he will depart in the forthcoming months before 2024 ends.
