Corrie fans livid at ‘most controversial scene’ with Lauren – but it’s not what you think
Coronation Street viewers were left squirming at their TV screens over an unexpected moment following Lauren Bolton's return to the ITV soap
Coronation Street viewers were left feeling a bit queasy over a particular scene involving Lauren Bolton.
This week marked the return of troubled teen Lauren (Cait Fitton), who had been missing and presumed dead for months. Fans will remember that she disappeared from the famous cobbles after losing her job at Roy’s Rolls.
It was only last month that viewers found out that dodgy lawyer Joel Deering (Calum Lill) was responsible for the young girl’s disappearance. And this week, it was revealed that Lauren is actually alive and has been in hiding.
She made an unexpected appearance at Roy Cropper’s (David Neilson) hospital bedside following his heart attack earlier in the day, before trying to make a quick exit from the hospital.
However, she was intercepted by her assailant Joel, who forced her into a family room. A series of flashbacks throughout the episode revealed the truth about Lauren’s disappearance and her relationship with Joel, reports the Express.
The unscrupulous lawyer manipulated his way into Lauren’s life by helping her with bills, eventually pressuring her into a sexual relationship.
Viewers also discovered what exactly happened on the day she vanished. Before Joel arrived at her flat, Lauren was seen in her kitchen listening to the radio while making a bacon sandwich.
But fans couldn’t help but cringe over an awkward moment – as they noticed the excessive amount of tomato ketchup Lauren used for her bacon sarnie.
On X, formerly known as Twitter, one user was appalled: “The most horrific point so far tonight, that amount of sauce on that bacon.”
Then another chimed in: “Want a sandwich with that ketchup by the looks of it that sandwich would’ve killed her if Joel hadn’t tried.”
And yet another Corrie fan exclaimed: “Most controversial moment on Corrie by far, have never seen anyone put that much ketchup on a bacon butty.”
Meanwhile, in the depths of a Reddit thread, an individual couldn’t hold back: “Omfg hahaha I was watching it too like why that much ketchup crazy.” Lastly, a commenter simply couldnt stomach it: “Yeah the amount of red sauce she used was just *nasty*.”
