Corrie fans say ‘he’s up to something’ as they ‘work out’ new Lauren suspect
Coronation Street fans are convinced they've worked out who 'knows something' about Lauren Bolton's disappearance after spotting a 'coincidence' in a behind-the-scenes video
Coronation Street enthusiasts reckon they’ve cracked a potential twist, suggesting that someone “knows something” about the disappearance of Lauren Bolton.
It’s been almost two months since the young lass vanished from the cobbles. Lauren, portrayed by Cait Fitton, had been acting dodgy for a while, hinting at a secret boyfriend who was lavishing her with jewellery and flowers.
But after being given the boot from her job at the cafe by Roy Cropper, she was visited by an unknown individual at home before disappearing without a trace. Her new mate and romantic interest Bobby was the one to realise she was gone, but his missing persons report wasn’t initially taken seriously.
However, the situation took a dark turn when blood was discovered in the flat she’d been living in, prompting DS Lisa Swain to start hunting for the person responsible for Lauren’s disappearance.
Roy Cropper, played by David Neilson, quickly became DS Swain’s main suspect as he was the last person to see her alive and then suspiciously deep-cleaned Lauren’s flat in an ill-judged attempt to help his friend Evelyn Plummer, who was sub-letting the precinct flat.
Roy has been charged with Lauren’s murder and was denied bail earlier this week. In Wednesday night’s episode of Corrie (April 17), viewers saw a distraught Roy in his cell, refusing food and visitors, leaving his niece Nina Lucas heartbroken, reports the Manchester Evening News.
Meanwhile, Bobby’s lie about seeing an unidentified man in Lauren’s flat continues to unravel. His comments about a black puffer jacket led to Danie Osbourne being questioned at the station again after he recently donated some items to a charity shop.
However, a recent behind-the-scenes video featuring actor Calum Lill, who plays Joel Deering, has reignited fans’ suspicions about the new solicitor’s involvement in Lauren’s disappearance. The video shows Calum on location in Bolton for the filming of Roy’s court scenes, alongside actresses Channique Sterling-Brown (Dee-Dee Bailey) and Alison King (Carla Connor).
He later returned to the Salford-based Corrie set to prepare scripts with Channique.
However, Corrie enthusiasts weren’t shy about sharing their suspicions about Joel in the post’s comment section on the show’s Instagram page. One chimed in with: “He knows something about Lauren’s disappearance.”
Another remarked: “He’s up to no good, isn’t he? ” A third pondered: “What did you do with Lauren mister.”
Finally, a fourth commented: “I’m convinced he’s behind Lauren’s disappearance. She has the same necklace as Dee Dee… hmmm bit of a coincidence.”
