The cafe owner’s imprisonment has angered many Coronation Street fans, but now they’ve become even more annoyed by the storyline after it’s latest development.

This week’s episodes saw Bobby Crawford revise his police statement regarding the events that led up to Lauren’s disappearance.

He had hoped the changes would help get Roy released, but instead he inadvertently implicated Daniel Osbourne.

Bobby was warned that perverting the course of justice was a crime in itself, and he later confided in his aunt Carla Connor that he’d told the cops the intruder in Lauren’s flat was wearing a balaclava and a dark coat with a fur-trimmed hood.

It lead to a process of events which caused Daniel to be hauled back in to the police station for questioning.

DS Swain brought up how Daniel had been tutoring Lauren and helping her pay for exams, which left him furious.

He hit back claiming the police had thing for arresting nice people, including Roy “the nicest man in the world.”

Coronation Street viewers were equally incensed, with one writing on X: “So is the moral of the story here with Daniel and Roy not to be nice to people and do a good deed lol.”

Another added: “So is the moral of the story here with Daniel and Roy not to be nice to people and do a good deed lol.”

A third tweeted: “I think one of the most infuriating things in all this is people’s good deeds being used against them.”

Meanwhile a fourth raged: “The police are definitely clutching at straws here. Just how long are they going to string this c**p out?

“Corrie, we don’t even care if she is alive or dead. Personally, I hope she doesn’t come back.”

Elsewhere, spoilers for upcoming episodes have revealed Roy will face further heartache after being blackmailed into confessing to Lauren’s murder.

The cafe owner’s dog Freddie is taken while being walked by Sam, and later, internet sleuths get in touch with Roy’s loved ones to say they will only return the pooch if Roy admits to the crime.
