Coronation Street seems to have revealed Gail Platt’s new home after her 50-year stint on the iconic cobbles.
Earlier this year, TV veteran Helen Worth, who portrays Gail Platt, announced she would be leaving the soap after half a century. Helen first graced our screens as Gail Platt in 1974 and quickly became one of the show’s most cherished characters.
Throughout the years, Gail has been at the centre of numerous major storylines. From family drama with her children David (Jack P. Shepherd), Sarah (Tina O’Brien) and Nick Tisley (Ben Price) to shocking murders and affairs, Gail’s tenure in Weatherfield has been anything but dull.
Gail’s departure is scheduled to air on Christmas Day, coinciding with her wedding to Jesse Chadwick (Jesse Thompson) – although it remains uncertain whether she will go through with it, reports Lancs Live.
The couple rekindled their romance this year after initially meeting in Thailand a few years ago. However, Gail and Jesse’s relationship hasn’t exactly been well-received by the rest of her family.
Adding to the surprise, Gail stunned fans when she decided to sell her beloved Platt house to raise money for her granddaughter Bethany (Lucy Fallon) following her disastrous cosmetic surgery.
Now, as her exit approaches, fans are convinced they know where Gail will be relocating to – and the soap itself seemed to hint at it this week. In one of last week’s episodes, Jesse suggested to Gail that they should purchase a villa in France and settle down there.
Initially, Gail was hesitant, suggesting they should opt for a new build near the Red Rec, a park in Weatherfield. However, in Monday’s episode (December 9), it was evident that Gail had had a change of heart.
In a poignant scene on the soap, matriarch Gail observed her neighbours from a distance. An emotional Gail then confided in Jesse: “Life goes on and I think I’m ready now to take that step,”, before instructing him to place an offer on a villa.

Yet, fans are convinced she won’t ultimately relocate to France. On a Coronation Street Facebook fan page, one viewer posted: “Going to be so sad to see Gail go.”
Other fans quickly responded, expressing their belief that Gail might not be moving thousands of miles away after all. One individual commented: “I have a feeling the wedding won’t go ahead and she’ll stay in England.” Another concurred: “I can’t see her moving to France as well ngl.” A third speculated: “Hmmm the red rec? ” while another affirmed: “Definitely.”

Discussing the drama set to unfold over the festive season, Corrie’s new boss Kate Brooks previously disclosed that Christmas on the cobbles is “very fun” and “really lively”, but cautioned that “lots of bombshells are dropped”.
“All those secrets come to the forefront on Christmas Day, so you basically have Gail – who’s going to leave the street – in the run-up to Christmas she has found out that some of her nearest and dearest have absolutely betrayed her,” Kate unveiled.
Kate spilled the beans on how Audrey’s hand in Gail’s betrayal has left her rattled. She remarked: “She [Gail] doesn’t know who to believe, even her dear old mum has kind of lied to her and she really struggles with that. And she’s a bit like ‘I don’t know whether I want this, I don’t know whether I want to be with Jesse'” Kate disclosed.
