Corrie ‘rumble’ identity of Mason’s nasty dad – and he’s familiar face to viewers
Coronation Street fans have ‘cracked’ the mystery of Mason Radcliffe’s father – and it turns out he’s a former soap baddie.
The notorious Mason (Luca Toolan) made his dramatic entrance to the cobbles in 2023, quickly stirring up a storm. Soap watchers were left aghast as they saw him torment Maria Connor’s (Samia Longchambon) young lad, Liam Connor (Charlie Wrenshall), to the point where Liam contemplated ending his own life.
However, by April, Mason found himself dispatched to a Young Offenders institution for menacing Liam with a blade. A few months on, in July, Mason was back on the cobbles, fresh from release, causing quite the stir – leaving Liam and Dylan thoroughly rattled.
In the meantime, Stu Carpenter (Bill Fellows) has displayed sympathy for Mason, even securing him employment at his eatery, asserting that Mason is endeavouring to reform. Recently in the soap, Mason’s sibling Logan (Harry Lowbridge) made his debut, having been previously alluded to as having a violent streak.
Yet, this week in Weatherfield, it was unveiled that Logan is entangled with villain Harvey Gaskell’s (Will Mellor) crew. During Monday’s episode (October 21), incarcerated Harvey had Logan break into Sarah’s (Tina O’Brien) residence, under the impression she possessed the recently pilfered cash, reports the Liverpool Echo. Sarah returned home to find Logan, who then pushed past her to make his escape.
Coronation Street fans reckon they’ve cracked the code on who could be Mason and Logan’s real dad. On Corrie fan pages, one person suggested: “Anyone else think Harvey could be Mason’s dad? His brother Logan is working with him and we have never seen their dad before.”
Another armchair detective agreed, posting: “This is a good idea, his bullying has stemmed from something at home and it would make sense with Harvey as his dad!” And another fan echoed the theory, chiming in: “Definitely! He’s following in his footsteps.”
The plot thickened when Luca, who plays the bad boy Mason, dished the dirt to Digital Spy last year about his character’s possible kin showing up. “It’d be great to have a family. Although they’d probably all be horrible because they’ve created this monster that is Mason,” he said.
He’s keen on discovering more layers to Mason, confessing: “It would be great because it would inevitably mean I’d get to explore a different side of Mason and the fans would get to see that. It would be nice to see why Mason is the way he is and make him a three-dimensional human being, rather than a horrible idiot.”
