Corrie signs Hollywood star for exciting new role – and Summer Spellman is in luck
Robin Morrissey - who was once in a Tom Hanks movie - is said to be joining ITV's Coronation Street as a character called Felix, who will be a new love interest for Summer Spellman
Robin Morrissey is reportedly swapping the glitz of Hollywood for a stint on the cobbles.
The actor – who shared the screen with the likes of Tom Hanks and Halle Berry in 2012’s Cloud Atlas – has been cast as a character called Felix in ITV’s Coronation Street and is due to arrive in Weatherfield this month, reported The Sun. And it seems Felix could be a new love interest for Summer Spellman.
In the soap, Summer (Harriet Bibby) has been in America for a bit. She is due to fly back in the coming weeks and it seems she will have Felix with her.

He is from Los Angeles but joins Summer in Weatherfield as she visits family including Billy (Daniel Brocklebank) and Paul (Peter Ash), who is battling motor neurone disease.
Summer hasn’t been seen in Weatherfield in weeks, after heading off to study in the US. She was offered the chance to study abroad earlier this year but was initially torn about it, telling her guardian Billy that she didn’t think it was right for her to up and leave as his husband Paul was so unwell.
However, when Paul found out about it he made it clear that he wanted Summer to pursue her dream. She ended up agreeing to go and jetted off to Boston.
It has been reported that she will have a bit of a new look – as well as a boyfriend on her arm – when she returns to the street. According to the Mirror, the teen has undergone a hair transformation, with her side parting having been replaced by a chic fringe.
Summer made her first appearance in the soap in 2017, when the character was played by actress Matilda Freeman. However, Matilda stepped down in 2020, saying it was “time for a change”, and Harriet took over the part.
Before Corrie she appeared in Doctors, which was also one of British star Robin’s early TV roles. He played Will Hurran in the medical series before going on to appear in Home and The Tower. As well as Cloud Atlas, he has appeared in the films Love Bite and Mindhorn and has a raft of theatre productions under his belt.
