EXCLUSIVE: Coronation Street favourite Jodie Pregner warned fans that the bubbly barmaid's life will change for good after filming a horrific robbery scene in the Rovers Return

Coronation Street’s Jodie Pregner teases terrifying robbery ordeal which she claims was “one of the scariest things I’ve ever shot.”

At the start of the year, Daisy Midgeley and Jenny Connor finally bought back the Rovers Return much to fans’ relief. Since then, the dynamic duo has been concocting ways to bring in business to the beloved pub.

This week, ITV fans will see the pair put on a speed dating event hosted by sexy single barmaid Glenda Shuttleworth. But things quickly take a turn for the worse when as the bubbly barmaid locks up the infamous pub on her own.

Viewers are set to see the confident barkeep rattled to her core when two masked men burst into the pub and violently rob the establishment. Now, actress Jodie Pregner has confessed that the horrific ordeal will change her character’s life forever.

Speaking to Daily Star and other press, the TV star, 44, recalled what it was like filming the violent scenes on her own. She told us: “[The speed dating event] was going really well and this guy got involved and it was a very, very bad judgement call, shall we say?

“And one thing led to another and led to something that was without a doubt one of the scariest things I’ve ever shot in my career. It was two men [in the pub with her].”

The soap siren teased what viewers can expect to see in the horrific fight scene. She went on: “We all do that thing of going to the kitchen for a glass of water and then just something catches her eye, and she goes in and is utterly horrified.

“It’s the worst feeling I think for anyone to go through to see somebody invading your home, your private space and some that you are there to protect and look after.” Jodie went on to praise the two actors who took on the menacing roles of the two robbers.

She confessed: “The two fellas that did it, they were so brilliant but brilliant for all the wrong reasons. They were scary and it was so atmospheric, and it was quite physical.

“I’m genuinely not kidding; I was genuinely scared. There was glass everywhere, there was bats involved. It was just so well put together and formulated. It was very well done.”

The West End star went on to reveal that the traumatising role will have a deep impact on her character even if she doesn’t show it to her friends on the cobbles. Jodie explained: “I don’t think Glenda will admit to how much it has affected her.

“She doesn’t want to admit to how bad that experience had got to her, which we all do. But then she suffers a lot with her breathing with anxiety and it’s something that really does affect her.

“And she doesn’t want to show it for Jenny and Daisy. She feels like she completely let the team down. So I think it’s a lot of front and saving face.” Fans will have to stay tuned to see how the bubbly barmaid will bounce back from the horrific attack.
