Corrie villain unrecognisable in iconic noughties pop video as fans do double-take
Corrie's Rowan Cunliffe has caused plenty of drama on the soap - but actor Emrhys Cooper once appeared in a huge music video - and the cobbles hunk looked totally different
Corrie fans have been left gobsmacked after discovering Emrhys Cooper’s cameo in a noughties pop video.
The actor made his soap debut this year playing the sinister Rowan Cunliffe. Rowan rocked up to Weatherfield as a group mentor in a new cult storyline for Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson).
And it’s fair to say the character has caused plenty of drama ever since. Rowan has pulled Leanne away from partner Nick Tilsley and even her sister Toyah Battersby during her time of need.
What’s more, last week Leanne was even whisked away to the mysterious self-improvement group” The Institute. And it seems Simon Barlow (Alex Bain) is set to follow suit too, under the influence of Rowan.
But prior to his Corrie stint, actor Emrhys had roles in legendary shows such as Desperate Housewives and CSI: NY. He also appeared in Mamma Mia! the musical during his career that saw him travel the globe as a performer.
What’s more, as a model and dancer, the star also booked roles with some of the biggest singers in their fun-filled music video. And fans have recently unearthed Emrhys’ cameo in an iconic noughties pop video.
In 2005, Emrhys played the ‘lift boy’ in the music video for the Sugababes number one hit single, Push The Button. In the video, Emrhys can be seen posing with the band members – with Heidi getting rather cosy with the future soap star.
Over on a Reddit thread, fans were left stunned at Emrhys’ appearance in the video. One person said: “Rowan’s actor is in the Push the Button music video by sugababes!”
Someone else added: “Oh wild, I can see the resemblance now a bit. He is still very handsome but it really doesn’t look like him in the video. Crazy!”
A third chimed in and wrote: “Wow I would never have made that connection! Heidi Range was fab in this video and it’s a great song.” Another user penned: “Heidi ruffling his hair, making him look the part for a future role in Corrie.”
