Corrie ‘work out’ Joel’s exit storyline ahead of departure – but are left fuming
Corrie fans reckon they’ve sussed out how the twisted Joel Deering is going to exit – and they are not impressed.
Last year, Joel (played by Calum Lill) strutted onto the Street as a seemingly decent bloke, but lately, he’s been showing his vile true colours. The plot thickened when it turned out he was the mastermind behind Lauren Bolton’s (portrayed by Cait Fitton) disappearance.
After initially helping Lauren with her finances, the dodgy lawyer manipulated her into a sexual relationship before leaving her for dead with a brutal head injury during a row where she accidentally mentioned her fiancee Dee-Dee’s name.
But that’s not all, he’s also the dad of her newborn and even tried to kill her recently by drugging her in a twisted bid to end the baby’s life. His grim plan flopped when Lauren went into labour prematurely and the tot made it through.
It has recently been reported that Joel’s reign of terror is ticking down, as actor Calum has said to have waved goodbye to the cobbles, with his character’s “comeuppance” on the horizon, reports the Express.
An insider spilled the beans to The Sun, saying: “Calum has made a huge impact as Joel over the last year but he always knew it would be for a fixed term. He’s been great playing Joel but all good soap villains must get their comeuppance and Joel’s is coming very soon.
“He’s already landed his first job after the show and so he’ll be finished in time to start rehearsals for that. But on-screen Joel has no idea what’s coming for him as his dark secrets start to be exposed.”
Viewers reckon they’ve sussed out how Joel’s storyline will wrap up on Coronation Street, and they’re not chuffed, slamming the plot twist as “predictable”.
On a Corrie fan page on Facebook, one viewer moaned: “We all know Dee Dee is going to find out and he is going to go to jail.”
“Really nothing to look forward to as such. I wish writers would realise when it’s time to expose a storyline rather than dragging it out for so long,” they continued. (sic)
Another fan chimed in with: “Yep, it’s going to be very predictable.” While another added: “Going on and on .it’s going to be the Xmas explosive can’t bare the wait, doing my head in now it’s boring.” (sic)
