Coronation Street fans are speculating that Cassie Plummer is on the brink of being killed off – and they believe they know who’s responsible.
Cassie, played by Claire Sweeney, made her debut on the cobbles in 2023 as Tyrone Dobbs’ (Alan Halsall) estranged mother. It didn’t take long for her to become a popular character and get embroiled in some drama.
Recently on the soap, Cassie shocked viewers when she began poisoning Ken Barlow (Will Roache). The two formed an unexpected friendship when Ken required care after suffering a fall and injury.
However, in November, Ken reassessed his finances and decided he needed to let Cassie go. Unwilling to lose her only source of income, Cassie started drugging Ken to keep him sick. Meanwhile, other residents have become suspicious of her motives for assisting Ken – including his daughter Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford), reports Lancs Live.
Fans have predicted a murder twist
This week on the soap, however, Cassie was caught in the act by Ken’s grandson Bertie, who later informed Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan), who then told Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard). Daniel confronted Cassie about it, but she quickly turned the situation around.
As fans will remember, Daisy is currently pregnant, but she’s unsure if the father is Daniel or Kit Green (Jacob Roberts). After overhearing a private conversation between Daisy and Daniel about the situation, Cassie used this information to her advantage.
She’s been causing plenty of drama
She’s officially painted herself as the villain, threatening to expose Daisy’s little baby bump secret if Daniel dares to spill the beans about her to Ken. Fans are now betting it won’t be long till Cassie’s lies land her in a grave.
Over on a Coronation Street fan page on Facebook, viewers have been unleashing their opinions. “Cassie is vile, please let her get caught out and get rid of her,” vented a user. Another joined in with a sinister wish: “Hopefully someone will kill her off!”
Viewers think the youngster could play a part in Cassie’s death
A third speculated about who might do the deed, offering: “Bertie! ” This suggestion hit the mark with others, with one replying: “Was thinking the same! ” Following this theory, another exclaimed: “I would soo love for this to happen.”
Speculation didn’t stop there, with Daisy’s name tossed into the murderous hat by another fan saying: “Daisy? She’s leaving this year and could get sent to prison for Cassie’s murder.” Another viewer concurred: “I can see this.” Some even cast suspicion toward Tracy being the assassin: “I’d put money on Tracy. She’s killed before! ” echoed another excited fan: “I’d love this to happen.”
