Corrie’s Lauren actress declares love for co-star as she ‘confirms’ soap future

Coronation Street star Cait Fitton plays the missing Lauren Bolton on the ITV soap and appeared to confirm her character’s fate in an easy-to-miss social media post

Coronation Street star Cait Fitton was quick to declare her love for a close co-star in a sweet Instagram post this week.

Cait plays the currently missing Lauren Bolton on the cobbles, who is presumed to have been murdered after an intense investigation was launched around Weatherfield. Now the actress has posted a sweet snap alongside her colleague Julia Goulding, best known for her role as Shona Platt.

In a sweet snap taken on the Roy’s Rolls set, the pair could be seen posing with their cheeks pressed together and huge smiles on their faces, wearing oversized fleece ITV coats. Cait wrote over the snap: “Happy Birthday to this beautiful lady @julia_goulding.

“I miss you and love you dearly [heart emoji].” Cait appeared to confirm her future on the show by hinting that she’s not currently filming on the cobbles – another huge hint that Lauren has in fact been killed off, rather than simply missing.

Cait has also updated her Instagram bio to said: “Previously Lauren in @CoronationStreet,” even posting a missing poster with her character’s details on and the fact that she was last seen on February 23rd.

It comes after fans shared a calculation on social media that “proves” who killed or kidnapped Lauren after bloodstains were found splattered across her flat. Fans think Bethany Platt’s abuser Nathan Curtis could be responsible, and after doing the maths it appears the sex trafficker could have been released from prison.

Nathan and his co-conspirators were found guilty of rape and conspiracy to commit rape in 2017, and the average prison sentence for rape ranges anywhere from four to 19 years behind bars. It was never confirmed on the show just how long Nathan got for his crimes, but on average those found guilty receive around 10 years. Halved for good behaviour, it could mean Nathan was released in 2022, giving him plenty of time to seduce Lauren as her ‘boyfriend’.

Other suspects include Rowan, the new ‘cult leader’ currently after Leanne and Simon. Rowan made his first appearance around the time of Lauren’s disappearance, and has shady ties to ‘The Institute’ that has left fans trembling.

One X user wrote: “Okay so the Lauren storyline is leading into the cult storyline?” while another chimed in: “I don’t trust Rowan at all.” Someone else wondered: “What is the point of this Rowa and wellness institute storyline –is it another ‘raising awareness of the dark side of the internet’ thing or just meant to be funny?”
