Corrie’s new Rovers Return landlady ‘revealed’ in shock twist – and it’s not who you think
The new owner of Coronation Street’s Rovers Return has been ‘unveiled’ – and it’s a face that fans will recognise.
The iconic pub is one of the most famous in all of soapland, boasting a rich history throughout the soap’s 65-year tenure on our screens. Over the years, we’ve seen numerous characters take their place behind the legendary bar, calling the shots and ringing the bell.
From soap stalwarts like Bet Lynch (Julie Goodyear) and Liz McDonald (Beverley Callard) to newcomers like Sean Tully (Antony Cotton) and Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan), there’s seldom a dull moment in this local.
At present, Carla Connor (Alison King) owns the pub, after landlady Jenny Connor (Sally Ann Matthews) and Daisy used stolen cash from Carla’s factory to purchase the establishment amidst their financial woes.
Upon discovering this, Carla was livid. However, she decided not to report Daisy and Jenny, instead claiming ownership of the Rovers as it had been bought with her money, reports Lancs Live. But now, fans are convinced that the pub is set to change hands once again.
Recently on the cobbles, Cassie Plummer (Claire Sweeney) stunned viewers when she began poisoning Ken Barlow (Will Roache). The two formed a friendship when Ken required care following a fall and injury.
Moreover, Cassie accidentally found out that Ken had bagged himself a cool £50k from premium bonds. Giddy with the gossip, she waited until Ken spilled the beans himself, which left her positively beaming.
Wasting no time, she nudged him to splurge on an exotic getaway and oh-so-casually hinted that he might need companywith Cassie throwing her hat in the ring. But there’s been a sinister turn; since then, Cassie’s been slipping something into Ken’s drinks, while the neighbours are getting all suspicious about her eagerness to look after Ken.
Drama escalates as fans now theorize that Cassie might just be plotting to snatch up the Rovers with Ken’s newfound loot. On X, a user speculated: “Imagine Cassie convinces Ken to use his premium bond money on buying the Rovers and then Cassie actually ends up as the landlady, what a mega turn of events that would be if she wasn’t in recovery.”
Seems others are on board with the idea because another excitedly chirped: “Cassie as landlady of the Rovers – PLEASEEEE, we need it.” Meanwhile, a third fan remarked: “I genuinely think it would make for great TV it would be so good.”
