A huge blaze rips through the Platts’ house on Coronation Street – with a mystery hooded figure the prime suspect behind the blast.
It comes just weeks after Corrie legend Helen Worth left the soap after an incredible 50 years. However, her exit wasn’t the only change to the cast, with a number of big names waving goodbye too.
David and Shona’s family home erupts in flames in an explosive scene to be shown on the ITV soap this week.
When the inferno is proven to be arson, some of the street’s best-known residents start to feel the heat and find themselves forced to try and convince the police of their innocence.
Corrie bosses have teased a series of suspects could be behind the blaze, and said ahead of the explosion being aired: “Who is the mysterious hooded figure we see pushing a petrol-soaked rag through the letterbox of number 8?”
They added: “Also creeping round the cobbles is a drunken Leanne Battersby, feeling lonely and angry at the world. Is she responsible for devastating inferno?
“Or could David be to blame for the blaze? His feud with gang lord Harvey has ramped up a gear in recent weeks, with Shona already having been kidnapped as a warning.”
The drama comes after weeks of difficult headlines for the ITV soap. There have been claims that they’ve got no money, with even cast member Sally Ann Matthews saying it on social media.
Last year, 22 stars left or announced their exit from the soap. There are a number of others coming up in the next few weeks too.
