Craig gets big news in Coronation Street ahead of tragic final exit

Craig Tinker (Colson Smith) is given some positive news about his career in Coronation Street soon, unaware of what lies ahead in his future.

The popular character currently works as a police officer, a job that he loves. He usually follows the rules but on a few occasions, Craig has dabbled in the darker side of policing, breaking codes of conduct to help his loved ones.

When Faye (Ellie Leach) and Emma (Alexandra Mardell) knocked down an old man a few years ago, Craig helped with twisting the narrative so neither of them went to prison for his death.

The secret was revisited when Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) arrived in Weatherfield, as he took pleasure in getting Craig drunk and poking him for gossip and information.

In upcoming episodes, Craig gets a sign his life is on the right track as he’s offered another placement with CID.

This would offer Craig more opportunities in policing, as opposed to being a uniformed officer and keeping an eye on the streets.

Sadly, with Colson Smith leaving the show, the chance of Craig becoming the next local detective will be taken from him in a matter of months, as the character is reportedly set to be killed off.

According to The Sun, Craig will be killed off, with the long-running soap intent on giving him a hero’s goodbye.

‘Craig has grown up on the street and he’s become part of it so it was a tough decision to make but one that will be worth it,’ a source told the publication in March.

‘PC Tinker will meet his maker in heroic circumstances this summer and there won’t be a dry eye in the house when it goes out. Colson is taking it well and there’s a real feeling that this chapter is closing for him and there are bigger and brighter things ahead.’
