Craig’s Coronation Street exit storyline confirmed and it’s utterly harrowing
Craig Tinker (Colson Smith) bows out of Coronation Street next week after 14 years – and his exit storyline is harrowing.
The actor announced his departure from the ITV soap earlier this year.
‘Autumn last year I was told that Craig Tinker’s time on the Cobbles is to come to end in 2025,’ he wrote on Instagram at the time.
‘I’ve loved every single second of my 14 year stay as a resident on the greatest street in the world. I feel incredibly lucky to have grown up in, on and around Coronation Street.
‘I’ve learned pretty much everything about life from the people who call it home. I’m excited to play out the exit story for our Craigy. For me, this is the end of the beginning.
‘I genuinely can’t wait to see what chapter two has in store for me.’
In upcoming scenes, his final story will play out – in a big week that involves colleague Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) and troublesome neighbours Lou and Mick Michaelis (Farrel Hegarty and Joe Layton).
A special week of episodes will uncover the reason Mick has such a hold on childhood pal Kit, leaving him – and Craig – in grave danger.
It all kicks off when Kit pursues Mick’s wayward son Brody (Ryan Mulvey) for shoplifting, and tempers begin to rise.
Sean Tully (Antony Cotton) and Gemma Winter-Brown (Dolly-Rose Campbell) notice Mick’s fury and are concerned when Lou goes off-grid. As a result, Sean decides to retract his statement about Mick’s involvement in his attack and reveals the truth.
Lou nurses a head wound and begs her husband to come home and sort the situation, but instead, he contacts Kit and blames him for everything that has gone wrong in his life.
He then decides to take matters into his own hands.
Elsewhere, Craig is excited to shadow Kit as part of his CID placement, and makes plans for an internet date that evening.
With Kit having a lot of other things on his mind, Craig feels ignored and Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) urges him to prove that he’s capable of taking on the position.
When he’s called out to investigate a disturbance, it’s just the ticket.
While we can’t reveal what happens next – we can say that an ambulance rushes to the scene and Craig’s life is left hanging in the balance.
As he drifts in and out of consciousness, Asha Alahan (Tanisha Gorey) manages to coax the story out of him. However, by the time Jess Hewyood (Donnaleigh Bailey) arrives to ask him some questions, his condition seriously deteriorates.
Back on Coronation Street, Lou attempts to escape with her young daughters, while Mick corners Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) and asks her to summon Kit. He believes that Kit has ruined his life, and is determined to kill him.
As the situation escalates – with Bernie Winter (Jane Hazlegrove) taken in as his hostage and used to bring her son to some waste ground for a face-off, the residents take in some horrific news about Craig.
It’s going to be a very busy week…
