Daisy confirms exit after cruel plan is exposed in Coronation Street
Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan) might’ve just saved Jenny Connor (Sally Ann Matthews) from Christina Boyd’s (Amy Robbins) plan in Coronation Street, but that doesn’t mean their relationship has been fixed.
Daisy and Christina have been working together in a cruel revenge plan against Jenny involving money and a catfish called Dom. For a while, Daisy was led to believe that her mum wanted the plan to end the same way she did, but a discovery in tonight’s episode changed things entirely.
Ahead of the bingo event in the pub, Christina spoke to Dom outside, unaware Daisy was listening in and learning of her mother’s betrayal.
Feeling incredibly guilty and knowing Christina wanted to double cross her, Daisy decided to try and do something to stop her mum.
As the fundraiser got going, Daisy went into the pub back room and found Jenny in a panic. She then dropped a hint about Dom and Christina, and it was strong enough for Jenny to work out that her arch nemesis had been playing her all along.
Jenny took to the mic in the pub and confronted Christina in front of everyone. As Kit (Jacob Roberts) and Craig (Colson Smith) approached, curious as to whether they needed to intervene, the Weatherfield residents enjoyed every single moment.
Unsurprisingly, Christina denied Jenny’s accusations. She was eventually arrested by Kit, but continued to play dumb in the interview room, asserting she had absolutely nothing to do with Dom or the scam.
With Christina spending the night in a cell, Daisy had an important decision to make. She could either stay in Weatherfield and continue to be at the centre of drama involving the likes of Jenny, Daniel (Rob Mallard) and Kit, or she could leave and start again.
That evening, Jenny reminded Daisy that she really doesn’t want her to leave – but her mind had been made up.
Daisy announced to Jenny that she needs to create a new life for herself and will be leaving Coronation Street…tomorrow.
The departure will mark the end of Charlotte Jordan’s time on the ITV soap, after playing the always chaotic Daisy for four years.
‘It’s so fractured now. And it’s so sad, as we’re used to seeing them so in sync,’ Charlotte Jordan said recently, reflecting on the state of Daisy and Jenny’s relationship.
‘I think Daisy’s harbouring some real resentment there, especially after what Jenny said about her miscarriage and her little brother’s death. She feels she’s very much been backed into a corner here.
‘I suppose that’s the only way she can justify her final betrayal of Jenny – it’s actually very reminiscent of Jenny’s early relationship with Rita. It’s like Daisy is Jenny’s penance for all the grief she used to give poor Rita!’
