Daisy’s baby turmoil is too much in Coronation Street as it overwhelms her
Since Coronation Street’s Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan) discovered she was pregnant she’s been left reeling. Having slept with two men within a short time of each other, she knew that either one of them could be the father – and neither was exactly an ideal choice.
Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) may well be the love of Daisy’s life, and the two were previously engaged until she blew that up by having a fling with Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott) in the aftermath of a devastating acid attack. Despite subsequently having a relationship with Ryan, Daisy realised she still loved Daniel.
The problem was that he’d moved on, and moments before she discovered she was pregnant at Christmas she saw Daniel propose to Bethany Platt.
The other potential father of the baby is police officer Kit Green (Jacob Roberts). For Daisy, getting involved with Kit was nothing more than a consolation prize and she’s never had any real feelings for him.
He also didn’t come across as great potential father material when he learned about the pregnancy, initially telling Daisy that he would want nothing to do with the child if it turned out to be his, though he graciously offered to make a financial contribution.
To be fair on him, his attitude has softened a little subsequently.
Daisy took a DNA test but has been keeping the results to herself. Is she harbouring a tiny Osbourne/Barlow or a new member of the Winter/Green clan?
The situation is a lot for Daisy to handle, and she makes a drastic decision in upcoming episodes by deciding to flee the country. To be more specific, she applies for a position as an au pair in Paris and tells Jenny (Sally Ann Matthews) she’s been offered the job.
Under pressure from Jenny, Daisy finally tells her the result of the DNA test and who the father of the baby is.
Trying to come to terms with the prospect of leaving Weatherfield and raising her baby on her own, Daisy goes for her 12 week scan appointment.
As she’s having the scan, the reality of the situation really hits home and as the sonographer turns the screen round to show her the baby, Daisy is suddenly flooded with emotion and has to leave the appointment.
So who is the father of the baby? Will Daisy tell them and give them a chance to step up, or will she try to make a clean break and leave Weatherfield for good?
As Charlotte Jordan is set to leave the role after four years, it could well be that Daisy opts for a new life in Paris – but with the truth about the baby’s paternity set to come out, there’s bound to be more drama to come.
