David Platt plots violent revenge in Coronation Street as he names culprit who starts the fire
As Number 8 is set on fire in Coronation Street, David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) reckons he’s worked out who is responsible – but is he framing an innocent man to cover his own back?
After stealing money from Harvey Gaskell (Will Mellor), David has been running around trying to work out a plan to pay him back.
Backed into a corner, he recently concluded that the only way he could get a large sum of cash in a short period of time is to set fire to the house, and then claim on the insurance.
In upcoming episodes, David makes a call to his friend Andy to arrange a time for their plan. Nick (Ben Price) then approaches and reminds him about Sarah’s (Tina O’Brien) birthday party, but they fail to realise Logan – Mason’s brother – is listening in.
As the party gets underway, it doesn’t take long for Sally (Sally Dynevor) to rush in and inform everyone that the Platt house is on fire.
Shona (Julia Goulding), Max (Paddy Bever) and Nick rush into the building after fearing that Lily (Brooke Malonie) is inside. When they get there, Nick also finds Toyah (Georgia Taylor) on the floor.
While Toyah is taken to safety, Max ends up getting trapped. Fortunately, a firefighter finds his lifeless body and brings him to an ambulance.
With the fire tended to by the emergency services, Shona finds the time to quiz David about what happened, but he promises he had nothing to do with it.
When Kit (Jacob Roberts) arrives at the hospital, he confirms that the fire was arson and David announces that Logan is definitely responsible.
Towards the end of the week, after Sarah and Nick come across Andy and learn he did time for insurance fraud, they angrily confront their brother, convinced he must’ve used Andy for his scam expertise.
Did David start the fire as he previously planned, or was it someone else?
If it was definitely Logan, what will David plot in revenge?
