Dee-Dee Bailey’s boyfriend Joel hiding shock secret in Coronation Street

JOEL Deering and Dee-Dee Bailey have had a steady relationship for several months but could heartbreak be in the cards?
The mysterious Coronation Street newcomer is keeping a massive secret and Toyah Battersby gets in his way.
Former Hollyoaks actor Callum Lill joined the ITV soap line-up in September, 2023, as he took on the role of Joel Deering.
Since his first arrival in the cobbles, Joel took an interest in Dee-Dee Bailey (portrayed by Channique Sterling-Brown).
In recent months, Joel has been a steady source of support for the solicitor as her father Ed Bailey encounters serious financial worries and struggles to cope.
Off-screen, however, viewers of the Manchester-based program have been convinced that Joel is too good to be true.
Soap watchers are proven right next week as it becomes clear Joel is hiding something.
It all begins when Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson) asks Dee-Dee and Joel about a firearms case he’s taken on and wonders if they’ve dealt with anything similar.
As Damon Hay (Ciarán Griffiths) hands out shots to Audrey Roberts, Gail Platt, Bethany Platt, Nick Tilsley and raises a toast to Sarah Barlow’s birthday, Adam shoots him daggers.
But when Dee-Dee and Joel arrive at the Bistro to tell him that they might have cracked his case, is Adam’s luck about to change?
In later scenes, when Dee-Dee complains that she’s snowed under with work, Joel offers to meet a new client on her behalf and pass on notes.
Joel meets up with Dee-Dee’s client in the Bistro but they’re interrupted by the arrival of Emily who’s clearly angry.
In a panic, Joel steers Emily out, determined to not cause a scene.
Unfortunately for Joel, Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor) watches, intrigued, wondering who this woman is.
What will she do?
Could Dee-Dee be alerted about the incident?
As mentioned above, viewers are adamant Joel isn’t who he makes himself out to be.
Many of them believe that he could even have a link to some of Corrie’s biggest villains – or even be Lauren Bolton’s secret boyfriend.
To top it all off, Joel was able to keep Ed’s gambling addiction under wraps, which raised even more alarm bells for Corrie fans.
Could they be right to worry?
