Carla Connor (Alison King) finds herself in big trouble in Coronation Street next week after an altercation – but will DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) be able to help her out?

When Roy Cropper (David Neilson) was arrested for Lauren Bolton’s (Cait Fitton) murder earlier this year, Carla did everything she could to try and prove his innocence and get him off the hook- even when that meant upsetting him.

Unfortunately, she couldn’t stop the hordes of online trolls who were quick to pass judgement and accuse Roy of the unthinkable.

In upcoming scenes, she arrives too late to stop the poor cafe owner from being attacked by a gang of yobs.

Next week, she comes across the same gang and rips into them, in true Carla Connor fashion, determined to defend Roy to the bitter end.

As Carla jumps back into her car, one of the yobs comes speeding towards her on his bike.

Lashing out, Carla throws the door open, knocking him flying.

Viewers have already seen Roy charged for assault in much less incriminating circumstances – so could Carla be set to face the same fate?

Fortunately, Carla has friends in all the right places – could Lisa be able to get her out of trouble?

Carla and Lisa have formed quite a strong friendship over the past few weeks, following an emotional scene that saw the detective break down in her car, only to receive comfort from Carla.

Since then, Carla has done Lisa a huge favour by offering unruly daughter Betsy (Sydney Martin) work experience at the factory.

Betsy has proved to be quite the troublemaker during her time in Carla’s employment so far, and is set to continue that tradition in upcoming scenes, as she completes little work before demanding an early lunch.

After she swans out of the factory, Carla heads to the police station to talk to Lisa, but the conversation comes to a swift end when Betsy calls and reveals that she is stuck in rough part of town.

Will Lisa be able to help Carla out of trouble, or will Betsy get in the way?
