Weatherfield County hero Tommy Orpington (Matt Milburn) will announce his plans to move to Spain for a new job in upcoming Coronation Street scenes.

The footie player turned painter and decorator has been a firm favourite amongst street residents for years, but their perception of him has changed dramatically in recent months since it was revealed that he has been having an affair with Tracy McDonald (Kate Ford).

The florist met her new bit on the side on Christmas Day, and it wasn’t long before she employed him to decorate her bedroom.

Whilst husband Steve (Simon Gregson) took a holiday to France, the two seized the opportunity to engage in a steamy fling.

The ordeal devastated the Barlow family following Steve’s efforts to reignite the spark in their marriage.

The hapless taxi driver even proposed that they renew their vows.

After packing his bags, father-in-law Ken (William Roache) assured him that he wasn’t the one that had to leave – it was Tracy.

Last week, Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell) heard through the grapevine that Tommy had accepted a job as an assistant coach for a football team in Spain, meaning he would be moving away.

Upcoming scenes will see Steve struggle to keep the news to himself, blurting it out across the pub to an unimpressed Tracy.

But does she already know?

Calling round to Preston’s Petals, Tommy begs Amy (Elle Mulvaney) to allow him to speak to her mum so he can explain himself before he leaves.

Will he depart, or will Tracy convince him to stay?
