Sean Tully (Antony Cotton) and Dylan Wilson (Liam McCheyne) are in for a shock in Coronation Street tonight (March 20) as Dylan’s mum Violet (Jenny Platt) finally returns.

Violet was last seen on screen back in 2011, when Sean Tully (Antony Cotton) paid her a visit in London.

Before that, she last appeared on the cobbles in 2008, before leaving Weatherfield to start a new life with Jamie Baldwin.

Recently on the cobbles, Dylan has been embroiled in a brutal bullying storyline that has seen him implicated for knife crime. After agreeing to hold the weapon for cruel mate Mason Radcliffe (Luca Toolan), Dylan was arrested for being in possession of a bladed article and their court appearance is fast approaching.

When Sean admits to Eileen Grimshaw (Sue Cleaver) that he hasn’t contacted Violet over the ordeal, Dylan is quick to jump in and tell her that she’s in Ibiza and can’t attend the hearing.

It’s a suspicious Eileen that gets Violet back to Manchester and in this new video, she isn’t happy.

It’s a small clip, but it’s enough to establish that Sean and Dylan are stunned to see her, and Violet is determined to hear what they both have to say.

But what will Violet make of everything Dylan has been through?

Speaking of her return, Jenny admitted that she was ‘very, very scared’ to step back into Violet’s shoes: ‘It was such a massive part of my life and one that I absolutely adored and genuinely loved every minute of being there’.

‘Even though it’s a different building, it’s still got the exact same kind of family vibe that it always had’ she added.

‘I’ve never felt like “oh yeah, that’s it, I want to put that character to bed”, I’ve always found Violet really lovely to play, she’s got heart and she’s warm but she’s made a lot of mistakes so I always feel like she’s one of us.’

‘And of course, I’d love to see what she could get up to if Dylan was getting into more trouble.’
