Frightened David reacts badly as Gail undergoes emergency operation in Coronation Street

Ever since Jesse Chadwick (John Thomson) returned to Coronation Street, the Platt siblings have made it perfectly clear they’re not really interested in giving him the time of day.

The character announced he was back on the cobbles to catch up with new lover (yep) Gail (Helen Worth). They had met each other in Thailand and when Gail got back, she chose to keep in touch with Jesse over email.

Amid wondering whether Jesse is up to something other than building a relationship with Gail, the Platts have also dealt with the mysterious case of Damon Hay’s (Ciaran Griffiths) missing money.

He had a bag of cash ready for the Platts, telling them they could use it to pay for Bethany’s (Lucy Fallon) medical fees. It then disappeared and Sarah (Tina O’Brien) decided Jesse was responsible, unaware it was actually her brother David (Jack P Shepherd).

In tonight’s episode of the ITV soap, Sarah, David and Shona (Julia Goulding) continued to wonder what Jesse sees in Gail. A bit harsh, but the trio tried to come to a conclusion so they weren’t drawn to the theory he was hiding a secret from her.

The back and forth between Sarah, David and Jesse stressed Gail out a great deal. After sending her children away, Gail started to struggle with her breathing and eventually, it was feared she was having another heart attack.

Jesse called an ambulance and Gail was rushed to hospital. In the waiting room, Sarah and David were informed Gail needed to have a stent fitted on her heart to help blood flow better.

Outside, Jesse tried to talk to a stressed out David, who was struggling with his guilt surrounding his mum being in hospital.

Moments before Gail’s health took a turn, Jesse was looking in the cupboard under the stairs for a bike pump. He then came across a bag of money, quickly putting two and two together and realising David nicked Damon’s cash.

Sat on a bench, Jesse tried to tell David that he could talk to him if he wanted, clearly wanting a confession about the theft.

David stood up and announced to Jesse that he doesn’t actually know him at all – the last thing he was going to do was sit and have an honest conversation with him.
