Heart-wrenching exit as show icon quits Coronation Street after split
This article contains spoilers for Friday’s (June 28th) episode of Coronation Street, which has not yet aired on ITV1 but is available to view on ITVX now.
Abi Webster (Sally Carman) has left Coronation Street after an almighty row with husband Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell) over the deepfake porn videos of her that have spread online.
It all kicked off when Abi was listening to the radio and overheard a presenter discussing an upcoming documentary based on a prison football team, which had been headed up by Corey Brent, the teen who had killed her son Seb back in 2021.
Determined to stop the production company from airing the documentary, Abi and Seb’s ex-girfriend Nina Lucas (Mollie Gallagher) charged down to the production offices and demanded it be taken down.
However, bigger woes were soon to come…
The residents discovered that someone was making and distributing deepfake pornographic videos of Abi online.
Kevin employed Max Turner (Paddy Bever) to find the culprit, but it proved to be an almost impossible task.
Later, Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) mentioned she had secured a new job at a magazine, prompting Abi to investigate further.
She uncovered that Corey’s father, Stefan, was involved in both the magazine and the production company.
Believing Stefan to be behind the deepfakes, Abi reported him to DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers), who informed her there was little the police could do.
Clearly startled that the truth may come to light, Stefan agreed to agreed to pay to take down the videos, but after learning it would cost £60k annually, he backed out.
Abi couldn’t believe that Kevin went behind her back, and in tonight’s (28th June) episode, Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) urged him to apologise – but it was too late.
Feeling overwhelmed, she decided she needed a break and told Kevin she was planning to stay with the twins and their adoptive mother, Lynsey in Essex.
What will become of their relationship when she returns to Weatherfield?
