Helen Flanagan up for Corrie return – but she admits there’s one major problem
EXCLUSIVE: Helen Flanagan played Rosie Webster from the time she was a child until she was 21, before returning for 18 months six years later, but she hasn't returned since welcoming her second child
Helen Flanagan has said she’s keen to return to Coronation Street – they just haven’t asked her yet.
Soap star Helen is famed for playing Rosie Webster. She landed the role when she was just a child, first appearing in 2000.
Over the years, Rosie had a number of memorable storylines, such as her goth phase and being kidnapped by Weatherfield villain John Stape. Helen left the soap in 2012, but returned in 2017 for 18 months before she became a mum.
Now, the 34-year-old is ready to step back into Rosie’s shoes. Helen told Daily Star: “We kind of were the same person. Apart from I think I’m actually a nice person.
“We’re both a bit wild, she’s a bit foul, which I can be to be fair. She had an affair with a teacher, didn’t she. She definitely had a side to her.”
She went on: “I’d absolutely love to go back. I spoke to Sally [Dynevor] the other day and said, ‘Oh, you know, I’ve got to come back.’ But they just haven’t asked me.
“You have to go back if they ask you. It’s up to the producer, it’s not really up to you. You have to be asked, you can’t just turn up.”
Helen added: “It would be great. But you’d want a good story as well.
“It’s hilarious when I look back because I was so lucky from being a child until I left when I was 21, I had big storylines. I was always written for and always had brilliant storylines.
“I went back when I was 27 and I went back for 18 months, and then I left when I was pregnant with Delilah. I loved being back. I really enjoyed it, but I was having more comedy lines rather than the big storylines.”
Helen hasn’t acted since 2018, however she hasn’t been far from television screens. She returned to I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! in 2023, which acted as the all stars series.
Then in 2024, following the breakdown of her relationship with footballer Scott Sinclair, she went on Celebs Go Dating. However, it was revealed she was in a secret relationship, and her boyfriend Robbie Talbot went on to also appear on the show.
