Intruder violates Roy Cropper’s privacy in Coronation Street and claims to have seen his ‘murder trophies’ in disturbing scenes
Roy Cropper (David Neilson) has been charged with murder in terrifying Coronation Street scenes following a cruel attack from a woman pretending to be Lauren Bolton’s (Cait Fitton) mum.
The legendary café owner has been implicated for the troubled teen’s murder, and in recent days his ordeal has got a whole lot worse.
Amongst a tirade of abusive phone calls and being targeted by two far right extremists in his own home, he’s also faced a wave of online abuse.
Earlier this week, a woman (Hannah Almond) claiming to be Lauren’s mum Kerry showed up at Roy’s Rolls and the two shared their woes.
Realising that ‘Kerry’ didn’t have anywhere to stay for the night, Roy invited her to stay the night in his flat and it became clear to viewers that something more sinister was at play as she revealed a can of pepper spray in her handbag.
In tonight’s (12th April) instalment of the long-running ITV soap, we saw the woman filming Roy’s collection of ornaments and trinkets alongside pictures of his late wife Hayley (Julie Hesmondhalgh).
When Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) brought his concerned son Sam Blakeman (Jude Riordan) round to the flat, the stranger took note of him describing his chess companion as his ‘BFF’.
Downstairs in the café, Shona Platt (Julia Goulding) and Nina Lucas (Mollie Gallagher) were shocked to learn her true identity – Alice McDowd, one of the trolls who had been targeting Roy online.
Later in the day, after the tense showdown with the bully, Evelyn Plummer (Maureen Lipman) convinced him to head out on a dog walk, which had devastating consequences.
Alice was waiting, phone in hand, to launch another attack on the two.
When Roy grabbed her mobile, she was sent spiralling onto the floor and her head began to bleed.
After reporting it to the police, DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) called round to ask further questions and Evelyn decided to take responsibility for the incident.
However, Roy wouldn’t let his best mate take the blame and headed down to the police station for a tense conversation with Swain.
Solicitor Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) was shocked by the tense interrogation and couldn’t believe when she brought up an attack on Gary Windass (Mikey North) from a decade ago.
Roy had found Gary sneaking around in the dead of night, and believing him to be an intruder, hit him with a cricket bat.
Things took a turn for the worse when Dee-Dee returned back to Victoria Street to tell his family that he’d been denied bail and had been charged with murder.
Will Roy be able to prove his innocence?
