Is Alya Nazir pregnant on Coronation Street? Actress Sair Khan expecting first child

Sair Khan will soon be taking a break from Coronation Street as she prepares to welcome her first child.

The actress will no doubt soon be heading off on maternity leave as she’s set to welcome a baby with her partner Nathan Chilton, but speculation has grown on whether Sair’s character Alya Nazir might be expecting too as Sair continues to film for the soap.

Announcing her pregnancy a few months back, Sair shared: “Hello… It’s been a little while since posting on here which has been a real mix of emotions. With all that is happening in the world it didn’t feel like the right time to share but we also know it’s okay to keep hope and pray for peace whilst acknowledging that we feel blessed and grateful.

“Last year was a challenging time for us both with Nathan’s chondroblastoma surgery on his pelvis. It’s been a long road to recovery and still has many obstacles ahead as we deal with the spread of the tumour to his lungs.”

She added: “Life can be difficult and there’ll always be challenges to face but there are also important lessons to be learnt and gifts to be cherished. We’re so excited for the arrival of Baby Chilton in Spring 2024.”

Back in April last year, Sair celebrated her Coronation Street birthday, nine years after she joined the ITV soap.

“It’s my Corrie Birthday!! Can’t believe it’s been 9 years since I started @coronationstreet. Well it was actually last week but I’ve just had a nostalgic look through some old photos and I’m feeling proud to be rolling into my tenth year,” she said, “The first pic is when I’d just started and a tiny tiny little picture of me was printed on the front of a newspaper (so surreal), Gary and Alya #Galya, the time Alya drank a couple of tinny’s and bedded Jason, family drama, working at the factory, Luke RIP, Ryan Ryan. Geoff and Griff.”

Fans have been speculating that Alya could be pregnant too, but it is unlikely given that her character is currently single and seemingly has sworn off relationships following her split from Ryan on the ITV soap.

Speaking back in 2023 about the possible of Alya and Ryan getting back together, she said: “It’s been incredibly difficult for Alya to see Ryan this way and the shock of the event has really hit her. She saw him earlier in the day, before the acid attack, and everything was fine and then so quickly, his life changed. A lot of the residents on Coronation Street have been through life-changing events but Ryan’s is one that is so physical and so painful and Alya has never seen or experienced something like this before.”
