Coronation Street aired a surprise twist this evening - with it looking like there could be four shock exits from the Cobbles amid the big storyline
Coronation Street aired a shock twist this evening – as Rob Donovan was left for dead.
There was a big showdown this evening on the Cobbles as Rob Donovan – played by Marc Baylis – learned that DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) had duped him into giving his kidney to his sister Carla Connor (Alison King) and had no plans to help him break out.
He had wanted to escape prison with his new lover, a prison guard called Mandy, and when DS Swain made her revelation, he called Mandy to help him get Carla and threaten Lisa into allowing him to escape.
In shock scenes, Carla was kidnapped from the hospital by Mandy – who told her she needed to see her brother one last time. As they waited for Rob to arrive, Carla and Mandy spoke about who Rob really was – and what his plan was.
Finding out Mandy was pregnant, Carla told her to be careful and that Rob would ditch her the second he could. When Rob arrived – having attacked DS Swain and stolen a prison guard’s uniform to get out of the hospital undetected – Carla dropped the bombshell that Mandy was pregnant, with Rob horrified by the news and sent Mandy away when she refused to get rid of the baby.
Rob was left ‘dead’ at the bottom of the stairs
It left just Carla and Rob in the disused building, with her needed urgent attention after her kidney transplant. When Rob threatened to kill Lisa, Carla saw red and pushed her brother with all her might, leaving him ‘dead’ on the floor at the bottom of the stairs.
DS Swain rushed in to see the scene before her and asked Carla what happened as the credits rolled on the episode – but could this lead to a huge exit for as many as four characters in a shock twist?
We are yet to know the fate of the villainous Rob Donovan after his fall. He is still recovering from having the surgery, so is not very well anyway, but has the fall killed him off and could he have suffered the same fate as his victim Tina McIntyre?
Elsewhere, could this also spell an exit for prison guard Mandy? Rob clearly wants nothing to do with her – and is potentially dead – so could she also be leaving now that her storyline arc has wrapped?
The third and fourth exits could come in the form of DS Swain and Carla. Lisa is already not very popular with Detective Kit Green but could this be the way for him to get rid of her for good? And if Lisa goes, will Carla follow – or will she find herself in trouble for the attack on Rob Donovan. If he dies, she could end up in prison.
